First I want to thank all of you for your prayers, thoughts and concern for my family as we have struggled with Ray’s illness. As of Wednesday his scans showed that his tumor had not responded to Chemo and had grown into the space in his abdomen and was preventing his stomach and digestive system from holding food. He had been very ill the few days before not being able to keep anything down but everyone thought it was in response to the chemo he had had just before the weekend. Wednesday they said there was nothing more they could do for him but to make him comfortable and sent a hospice counselor to talk to my sister.

Last night, the doctors informed us that he was showing signs of liver failure and said they would keep him in the hospital until Tuesday and arrange a transfer to hospice if the need was there. Basically, his doctors don’t expect him to live long enough to go to hospice.

My family has all said that it would be better to wait to try to go home since I can’t just go home and stay for a unknown period. Please pray for his comfort, Rhonda and Thad to have peace and understanding. And pray for them as they go through all of this.
Please keep me in your prayers as I prepare to travel to Mississippi whenever I am needed.

The other thing I wanted to say is that although Ray is my brother-in-law he has been around for over 21 years (married to my sister for 19 1/2 dating before that) of my almost 31 years. So to me he is like a brother. Needless to say -I don't have a lot of memories of Rhonda that don't include Ray. They have been Rhonda and Ray for so long you can't hardly say one without the other. Of all the people i know -they are some of the only people who I really feel like are true soul mates -not just good compatible people but soul mates. I guess as a single girl that is one of those light at the end of the tunnel relationships for me and one of the hardest adjustments of him getting sick. You are suppose to lose your person.
